What you need

  • A Mac with Apple Silicon — M1 or later. There is no Windows build and no Intel Mac build.
  • Disk space for a 126 MB application.
  • Nothing else. No Adobe, no account, no internet connection to work.

The first time you open it

ImpoMatrix is not signed with an Apple certificate, so the first time macOS asks before opening it. You do this once and never again:

  1. Open the .dmg and drag ImpoMatrix into your Applications folder.
  2. Open it. macOS refuses and says it could not verify the program — dismiss the message.
  3. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security. There is a line about ImpoMatrix: click Open Anyway.
  4. Confirm, and enter your Mac password if you are asked for it.
  5. From then on it opens normally, with a double click.

On macOS 14 and earlier it is shorter: right-click the program (or Control-click), choose Open, then confirm Open in the window that appears. macOS 15 removed that shortcut, so it goes through System Settings instead.

What works without a licence

Nearly everything. Unlicensed, ImpoMatrix opens, imports the artwork, reads the trim and the bleed, works out the grid, shows the imposed sheet and tells you how many pieces it holds and how many sheets the run takes. It checks clients’ files too.

What it will not do is write files, and the preview carries NÃO LICENCIADO / NOT LICENSED across it, so the sheet cannot pass for a good one with whoever picks it up at the press. There is no time limit and no account to create: install it, put yesterday’s job through it and see what would have come out.

When you want to write files, ask for a licence — it is issued for your computer and activated from a file.

Updating

A new version installs over the old one: drag it into Applications and replace. The licence and the presets are not lost — they live outside the program, in the user folder, and are untouched when the program is replaced. Nothing has to be re-activated.

The version published here is V0.30.
